Discipleship Training School

A Discipleship Training School (or DTS for short) is a 5 month Christian discipleship school run by YWAM bases all over the world. The school is split into two halves: lecture phase and outreach phase. The lecture phase is 3 months of classes where every week we will discover a different topic such as: the nature and character of God, the Bible, hearing God’s voice, and many more. Growing us deeper in love with Jesus and His Word, helping us to understand who He is and who we are in Him, knowing our identity and purpose on this earth. The outreach phase is 2 months of missions! Taking what we learn in the lecture phase and putting it into practice to bless others and share God’s Gospel, Word, and love to the nations.

A DTS is a great opportunity to get to know God better together with a community of people who are hungry to do the same with you, and get a strong foundation for the rest of your life in whatever you do. It is also a great entryway into missions if you feel called to missions or ministry in any way. A DTS is the entry school into YWAM, opening up many more training schools and possibilities through the University of the Nations (YWAM’s university).

Upcoming School

We will be running our first DTS this September! It will be our pioneering DTS, which means it is how we will be starting our base in Suva. A pioneering DTS can come with its challenges, but with the challenge comes the excitement of being a part of something historic!

So if you want to join us in making history in Fiji, the DTS will be starting on the 16th of September 2024, with students starting to arrive on the 13th of September 2024. The DTS will then be graduating on the 31st of January 2025.

The heart of this DTS is to respond to that invitation to raise up role models for the youth in Fiji (read more about this on the About page). Because of that we have as our focus Fijian youth, however this DTS is still open to internationals as being international is a core value in YWAM and we love having many cultures together. But it does mean that we will have two different fees for the school: a local student fee and an international student fee. The reason for this is to make DTS as accessible to local Fijians as possible, taking away the financial barrier that is in the way for many locals.

The local school fee is FJD$2,500. However, we have in place a ‘loaves and fish’ principal for Fijians. Just like the boy in John 6:9 who brought to Jesus 5 loaves and 2 fish, and Jesus multiplied it to feed 5,000 people, we are trusting God to do the same so we can see many Fijians being raised up to be role models in this country and in the Pacific. So if you are unable to save up that much money, don’t worry, bring what money and food you have (cassava, taro, etc.) and we will trust God to provide what we need.

The international school fee is FJD$5,500 for the lecture phase, and then the outreach phase fees will vary between FJD$2,000-5000 depending on where your outreach location will be. Outreach locations will be announced during the lecture phase with the price as well. These prices are regular DTS fees, and again, the reason for the difference in price is to make DTS accessible for Fijians.
